I’ve already written about my recent trip to Gwadar Port City and the Makran Coastal Highway. Today I am writing about a dinner experience during our trip. Most of our dinners were fresh sea food but one day we wanted to go out to the main city and enjoy a different fare.
A search on the internet yielded the name Mehran Restaurant which was an utterly misleading article on Trip Advisor as all they served was Daal Chawal. Not to put Daal Chawal down as to me it’s the best comfort food in the world but the kids were horrified at the prospect.

So we made local inquiries and ended up at Shinwari which was located in the heart of downtown Gwadar Port City. From the ambiance which was just for the stags and group of men (Mind you we sat in the austere family section) to the food the entire experience rocked. Do be ready for a Karachi like price tag by the way.
But if you are visiting Gwadar then dinner at Shinwari is a must. Their Chicken Sajji was hands down better than anything I have eaten in Karachi in recent times.
Best thing was that we got to directly interact with the Manager of the restaurant who decided to take over our table himself.
His poise and charm reminded me of the more groomed attendants at Posh Restaurants overseas. He truly made a difference with his chatter and interaction with our kids.
Of course, if you are not there with your family then you can enjoy the Charpoys under the starlit sky and the hukka and sheeshas available there too as that is basically the ambiance in the main area of the restaurant.
Either way don’t miss eating at Shinwari when you visit Gwadar!

Tvinkal is an idea that is seeded in the mind of our Muse and CEO Jahanara because of a dearth of good reading material pertaining to Pakistanis. An avid reader herself, she felt that most of the Pakistani Blogs were all about either sensationalism or were so deeply monetized that all they offered were advertisements or endorsements of different brands.
There isn’t a single Pakistani Lifestyle Blog that talks about the real life interests of Pakistanis especially the women. Be it Fashion, Trends, Street Style, Cooking, Shopping, Upcoming Events, Movie Reviews or a take on the International Scene, we just never get to read a Pakistanis Perspective.
And that is how Tvinkal came about!

Excellent post, I have had the pleasure of enjoying Shinwari gawadar, a true oasis in the desert of food in Gawadar.
Btw would love it if you could do a post on other sites within a day of Karachi :))
Thank you Ali!
Will certainly do that.
