And of course Bali is gorgeous as is the Maldives. And of course when we go to a beach resort most of us are looking
for serenity and peace (The others go to Phuket!). And of course if gorgeous blue seas and untouched shores and
native sea food is the inspiration then there is no better place to head for then Ormara in Baluchistan.
Situated about 250 Km from Karachi this Naval Base is paradise. The white stony sand shores and the bluest of blue
waters are just the icing on the cake because the journey itself on the Baluchistan Coastal Highway is breathtaking.
The last 100 Km to Ormara are a journey most
memorable as it weaves in and out of mountains
with occasional glimpses of the most beautiful
shoreline imaginable. The quiet of the highway
itself only goes towards making the majesty of the
mountains and the surrounding landscape even
more awe inspiring. One can’t help but make
numerous pit stops so as to stand and stare and
also photograph the beautiful surroundings.
The city itself is little more than a fishing village
with only the very basic amenities and the naval
base itself. Hailing from a background in the
armed forces, the naval base was my resident
destination and the way the mountains were
lighted up at night is an indescribable sight.
The local fishermen are more than happy to sell
you their days catch and cook
it in authentic local manner if you request. Quite a shift from our cosmopolitan Karachi way of doing seafood
and extremely yummy. Overall Ormara was fabulous choice for spending a long relaxing weekend with
